Organisation are challenged with the increased generation of information-structured and unstructured information. Unstructured information can be stored in various format, and this affect the readability of the information by stakeholders and/or should the organisational policy require the unstructured content to be stored into the ECM as another format rendition the conversion process can be challenging for most users. Structured information leverages the most if it can be incorporated in a template and sent to stakeholders as a report, letter, license, or financial document.

The challenge with both structured and unstructured information within Enterprise Content Management, is the difficulty to provide information in a format readable and can be comprehended by stakeholders. FaraDoc Document Generator facilitates the functionality for compiling data contained in a Documentum ECM solution into a presentable format.

The FaraDoc Document Generator is fully integrated with EMC Documentum and provides a robust rules engine, a sophisticated document composition engine; and a fast-publishing engine for running high-volume, unattended batch document production processes. Additional components provide services for security, load balancing, data access from a variety of sources, and content access from ECM systems, the file system, or other sources. The software supports collections, nested collections,embedded images, creating templates using any office-like editor, and processing templates using text tags (“[[Tags]]”) as identifiers but may be edited and controlled within Documentum.

The proposed FaraDoc Rendition Software Module for MS Office Documents integrated with EMC Documentum can read and render Word documents natively for conversion to PDF, image formats, or activate printing of these documents automatically within the EMC Documentum environment.
